Fries: ‘We are experiencing exciting dynamics in our industry driven by rapidly changing consumer behaviour’

Fries has been with Rohde & Schwarz for 25 years, during which time he has successfully led technology innovation in several high-tech markets, most recently in the Wireless Multimedia market. According to the company, his appointment to head the Broadcast and Media Division supports the strategic shift in its approach towards its core markets and reinforces the company’s intention of becoming more disruptive in production, delivery and distribution workflow management and software-centric products and systems.

“We are experiencing exciting dynamics in our industry driven by rapidly changing consumer behaviour,” commented Fries. “Innovative technology will be one of the key success factors for the ultimate leaders in the media industry.”

“One significant trend is the rise of remote production based on a flexible, software-centric approach,” he continued. “At Rohde & Schwarz, we work closely with key customers to bring value through technology innovation – increasing production efficiency in remote architectures, standardising new workflows and establishing new technologies to enable a seamless transition to remote production.”

“In the Broadcast and Media Division, and also in Pixel Power [part of the Munich based Rohde & Schwarz technology group], we have some of the most creative and talented people in the broadcast industry to instigate this change. We have decades of customer insight, which helps my team interpret customer needs and continuously offer new generations of industry-leading media production, delivery and distribution solutions. And as a privately owned, financially solid company we anchor our technology innovation with our sustainable, long term business conduct,” Fries concluded.
