Oman TV went live last week with the EVS MediaCeption Signature end-to-end live production asset management as part of a major upgrade of its studios in the capital Muscat and its facility in Salalah.

The upgrade, including NRCS and PAM systems, has been planned since 2017, and included a rigorous and critical evaluation process stretching over four years. Key components of the new system include server, network, and hyper-convergence infrastructure (virtualisation). The project’s systems integrator was Dubai integrator United Broadcast and Media Solutions (UBMS).

Announcing the Oman TV collaboration: Mohammadreza Eslambolchi, VP UBMS; Parwaiz Anjum, Project Director, UBMS; Serge Van Herck, CEO EVS; and Mohammed Bouita, VP Sales Middle East & Northern Africa, EVS

The broadcaster required a PAM for news and studio production that is interoperable with systems from Adobe, Avid, Vizrt and Tedial, and also sought to reduce rack space by virtualising some back-end resources.

EVS was chosen by UBMS as a fast and fully featured PAM taking full advantage of EVS’ loop recording technology, so that operators do not have to worry about missing content or downtime. Operators in one Oman TV location can access content from the other. The new virtual environment reduces rack space and power consumption, whilst increasing flexibility for systems administrators and providing scalability for future expansion.
