Rob Ambrose, Co-Founder and Research Director, Caretta Research

Rob is a consultant, industry analyst, writer and technologist advising international broadcast and media companies, technology vendors and industry associations. He works closely with the IBC conference and is a regular producer and host of IBC365 webinars.

As co-founder of Caretta Research, Rob is working with a team of leading media-tech analysts to transform traditional industry research by focusing on technology buyers and their project priorities, budgets, decisions and choice of vendors.

He supports multiple leading broadcast technology suppliers on product and market strategy, and is advising leading broadcasters and OTT platforms. Rob holds an MBA with Distinction from Imperial College, London.

Jean-Pierre Andreaux, Head of Content Protection, Shahid 

With over 22 years of experience in developing, designing, and testing online security software, as well as managing security departments, and crafting strategies for anti-piracy and content protection, Jean-Pierre Andreaux has demonstrated a long and successful track record in broadcast media. His work in digital security and streaming media has made him a valuable asset to many companies throughout his career.  

Today, he drives the online anti-piracy strategy at Shahid, the world’s leading Arabic streaming platform. As Head of Content Protection, Andreaux fulfils an essential role given today’s digital era and the valid security concerns that come with it.  

Andreaux’s career began at Thomson Multimedia (known today as Technicolor) where he was a security research engineer for six years before moving on to become Embedded Security Analyst at the Pay-TV technology security vendor, Irdeto, in the Netherlands. In this role he was in charge of analysing pirated products, working alongside broadcasters to protect their distribution platform.  

Between 2007 and 2020 he continued to define and implement technical anti-piracy strategies in the Middle East at OSN and beIN Media Group, where he also honed his management and team-leading skills. 

He joined Shahid, which is part of MBC GROUP, in late 2020. 

Andreaux has a Master of Sciences in Applied Mathematics from the University of Limoges. He is fluent in both English and French. 

Karim Esseghir

Karim Esseghir, Content Protection and Anti-Piracy Manager, beIN Media Group

Currently content protection manager for the MENA region for beIN Media Goup, based in Doha, Qatar, Karim has over 20 years’ experience in content protection. Initially, a software engineer at Irdeto, Karim contributed to the development of the first DVB-MPEG-2-compliant conditional access system then moved to customer care and then sales within Irdeto, a world leading company in securing digital assets – predominantly video. He then led sales in south Europe for AirTies, a leading WiFi products and services, based in Istanbul, Turkey. 

Karim has also co-founded and led for three years, a company for online booking, website design and development, in France. 

Karim holds a Master’s degree in computer science from Rice University, Houston, Texas, and a principal software engineering degree from the Univeristy of Tunis, Tunisia. 

Karim is a seasoned sailor. He was selected by Tunisia to campaign for the Rio 2016 Olympic games in the Finn category – a single-handed heavyweight dinghy.

Yael Fainaro is EVP, Security. In her role Yael is responsible for Synamedia’s Security Group. Yael has over 18 years’ experience in the security technology industry in the areas of strategy, M&A, innovation, business development & post-merger integration.

Prior to joining Synamedia, Yael served as VP Corporate Development of CyberArk Software (NASDAQ: CYBR) where she was responsible for leading the company’s strategy and for generating new growth activities through organic and in-organic initiatives. Prior to that, Yael held the position of Director, Corporate Development and Integration at Cisco, which she joined through the NDS acquisition in 2012.

Shailendra Mathur, Vice President and Chief Architect, Avid

Shailendra Mathur is responsible for the technology and architecture of Avid’s products. Shailendra has been awarded several patents and presented papers at numerous conferences, panels and journals. He has contributed original solutions in a diverse set of areas - AI, computer vision, medical imaging, media creation tools, asset management, 4K/HDR, high performance computing and cloud technologies. With more than 25 years of innovation experience Shailendra was privileged being one of the team who received the Philo T. Farnsworth Prime Time Engineering Emmy Award granted to Avid in 2018.
