The new CJ15ex4.3B is a lightweight UHD ENG-style zoom lens boasting class-leading magnification and wide-angle focal length.

Designed for 2/3in sensor cameras, its 15x zoom is “the widest and longest zoom in a 4K ENG or studio lens,” claimed Stephen Hart Dyke, product marketing manager, Canon Europe. It has a wide-angle focal length of 4.3mm, and also has a built-in 2x extender for tighter close ups (taking it out to 129mm, without affecting its 4K resolution). It joins Canon’s UHDxs series of lenses, which prioritises optical performance (taking over from a 12x 4.3mm zoom). It weighs 2.19kg.

It supports BT.2020 camera chromatic aberration correction when attached to a compatible 4K camera, and is designed to offer a wider colour gamut, for brighter, more vivid and life-like images. The arrangement of fluorite, UD (ultra-low dispersion) and Super UD lens elements it uses also corrects chromatic aberrations optically. It is also the first portable broadcast lens to feature ASC (Air Sphere Coating), a new technology that applies a coating that supresses reflections to reduce ghosting and achieve more authentic HDR shooting.

Canon Europe is exhibiting at IBC2019 on Stand 12.D60.
