Making its public debut at IBC is CornerCam, a system patented by the Spanish company SAPEC to capture even the smallest detail from the corner of a football stadium. The solution consists of a 50-mm diameter flag that houses two HD 1080i resolution cameras with remote horizontal panning and all the necessary connectivity to operate in the most demanding broadcast environment.

This innovation was tested at the final of the 2023 Copa del Rey football tournament in partnership with the RFEF (Spanish Football Federation).

Cristóbal: ‘The result could not have been more positive’

“The result could not have been more positive,” stated Miguel Ángel Cristóbal, CEO of SAPEC. “We’ve earned the recognition of the production teams and the spectators, who were able to enjoy live and replayed footage such as corner kicks and goal celebrations.”

The company has a growing track record in sporting tech. Both the Qatar World Cup, the Women’s World Cup and the World Athletics Championships were broadcast over DTT in UHD in Spain using its SIVAC-ON encoder/decoder – also demoed here at IBC.

The firm’s UHD/HD/SD multichannel platform LAGUNA, which supports HEVC, H.264 and MPEG-2 standards, also presents its new UHD licence for the first time at the RAI. SAPEC further improved this system with a thumbnail display that enables the mosaic of each SDI signal.
