Industry events 

SMPTE is holding its annual conference, SMPTE2019, in LA this week. The conference runs from 21-24 October at the Westin Bonaventure in Downtown Los Angeles.

It features a number of speakers and includes the SMPTE 2019 Awards Gala and after party and a 4K 4 Charity run.

Nordic TV Summit is an international one-day conference that takes place in Copenhagen this week on 24 October.

The event promises to inspire, educate, motive and give profound insight into the use of Internet TV in Scandinavia & beyond, a showcase of OTT and TV Everywhere solutions, the impact of social media and Internet TV monetising.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, SPORTEL takes place from 21 - 23 October at the Grimaldi Forum, Monaco.

The event brings together broadcasters, international federations, digital platforms, technology providers and sports marketing agencies. Its goal is to develop new business opportunities and determine future trends and challenges in sports business. 

 

Company announcements

NETGEAR will announce Q3 2019 earnings on Monday.

Snap will announce Q3 2019 earnings on Tuesday.

Microsoft will announce Q1 2020 and Paypal will announce Q3 2019 earnings on Wednesday.

Amazon, Brightcove, Comcast, Canon, Intel and Juniper Networks will each announce Q3 2019 earnings on Thursday.

Verizon will announce Q3 earnings on Friday.

 

Film and TV releases 

The new Terminator: Dark Fate film starring none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger playing the legendary role releases in cinemas on Wednesday.

An animated version of The Addams Family releases as a film on Friday. Chloë Grace Moretz and Snoop Doog are amongst the star-studded voice cast.

Snoop Dogg also stars in comedy The Beach Bum alongside Matthew McConaughey and Isla Fisher, which releases on Friday.

Naomi Harris stars in police action drama Black and Blue, also releasing on Friday.
