Apantac has unveiled license-free software, named Access Control, to help organisations define users’ credentials and the access permissions associated with each Tx module attached to a computer.
This system asks users to log in before accessing connected systems, with permissions determining whether they have exclusive control, control or occupy modes, view-only access, or no access. It also enables groups of users and Tx modules to be defined, reportedly speeding up configuration in large facilities, especially those with changeable, intermittent users.
The solution can be configured using the Access Control Management application and run from two designated matrix Tx modules (main and backup), or the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) connected via IP to an Open LDAP or Microsoft Active Directory server.
A free logging utility monitors user logins, connections to computers, and the console used. Furthermore, time-stamped records can be exported to Excel for later analysis.
