The Inca ABR Transcoder 3840 being showcased on the WISI stand is described as a carrier-grade adaptive bitrate transcoder built for rapid deployment and reliable OTT video delivery.

To ensure high availability, the product has been expanded to include N+1 chassis redundancy with support for multicast source IP masquerading for Source Specific Multicast (SSM) compatibility. Operators can, says WISI, enjoy peace of mind and maximise uptime with N+1 with SSM support and other redundancy features available in the 3840ABR including automatic source failover and redundant power supplies.

Also on show on the WISI stand is the company’s new HXC module. Compatible with the existing Inca Modular Series 4400, it supports transcoding of next-generation HEVC. The HEVC codec provides compression savings of up to 40% while maintaining picture quality, WISI notes. Signals received in HEVC can be converted by the Inca Modular Series 4400 back to MPEG-4 AVC or MPEG-2 to ensure compatibility with legacy equipment. The HXC module is designed to help operators support existing cable TV, IPTV, satellite delivery and processing infrastructure by transcoding linear SD and HD HEVC sources to MPEG-4 AVC or MPEG-2 outputs for IP transport video stream distribution.

WISI is exhibiting at IBC2019 on Stand 1.D37.
