Nomad Digital has implemented Irdeto’s Control on the Go into its Engage Portal solution

Under this agreement, Nomad Digital has implemented Irdeto’s Control on the Go into its new Engage Portal solution, which delivers on-demand, managed content directly to passenger devices, such as tablets, smartphones, or laptops.

Irdeto Control on the Go (COTG) is a portable multi-digital rights management (DRM) video content protection and content usage management solution specially designed for the small footprint of planes, trains, coaches and cruise ships, and other internet-connectivity challenged spaces. It enables a content owner or operator to offer an extensive library of content to a large population with ease, ensuring stringent security requirements are met to deliver premium, high-quality content to both consumers’ favourite devices and built-in displays, without any piracy concerns.

The solution allows DRM licences to be issued without an internet connection, ensuring consumers don’t have to download content ahead of time and providing the same experience that many airline travellers have become accustomed to in recent years. Irdeto COTG provides the robust media protection demanded by premium content owners, including obfuscation technology for when the content is located in potentially non-secure environments. Furthermore, it offers flexibility and fast-to-market deployment as it has been pre-integrated with most packagers and encoders on the market, as well as many encryption and playback solutions. It also has a set of APIs that can be easily integrated to third-party systems.

“We are pleased to partner with Nomad Digital to enable their transportation customers to deliver premium content, uninterrupted, to travellers. Today’s consumers have no tolerance for a jittery streaming experience, and Irdeto Control on the Go ensures not only the highest level of security, which is a must when securing content rights, but also enables public transport operators to provide a great onboard video entertainment experience without the need for an internet connection. This is a win-win situation for operators and their customers”, said Shane McCarthy, COO of video entertainment at Irdeto.

“Nomad Digital is happy to partner with Irdeto, a global leader in the field. We have worked with Irdeto to fully integrate their portable DRM solution into our end-to-end Engage Portal solution. Irdeto’s partnership approach, vendor-agnostic mindset and pro-activity in managing risks allowed us to quickly accelerate delivery to our global customer base. Their robust multi-DRM security, endorsed and approved by the leading content providers, enables us to secure and provide premium content to our customers”, said Angela Trainor, product manager at Nomad Digital.
