Huggins pointed to the trend of cord cutting and the shift to IP-delivered, OTT content, and the implications of that change in use of data for broadcasters. 

“One of the great ways that you can clean up that murky supply chain is to have a distributed ledger which is available to all parties,” she said.

A distributed ledger is at the heart of blockchain technology, which is the computer science behind the cryptocurrency Bitcoin. 

“Blockchain is what makes Bitcoin possible, they are not one and the same,” said Huggins.

“Blockchain is the infrastructure that makes reconciliation, or the double spend problem, nonexistent,” she said.
